Meet 91福利社's 2019 Artist in Residence, Rebecca Selleck!
Rebecca, a sculptor and photographer, has been at 91福利社 since Term 1, first working with senior students on the St Peter鈥檚 Campus and now spending time with Years 7 - 9 at the Padua Campus. She has conducted practical workshops, talked to classes about her art-making and is currently working on a sculpture project with a group of enthusiastic Year 8s and 9s. Bec has obviously worked closely with Visual Arts students but has also engaged with SOSE classes and the STEAM department.
Check out the video above to hear from Rebecca as she discusses her art, the Artist in Residence program, and the advice she would give to aspiring artists.
Members of the 91福利社 community are invited to view Rebecca's latest exhibition, which opens on 15 August and runs until 1 September at M16 Artspace.
Location: M16 Artspace, Gallery Two, 21 Blaxland Crescent, Griffith
Dates: Thursday 15 August to Sunday 1 September
Opening: 6pm, Thursday 15 August
Gallery hours: Wednesday to Sunday 12pm to 6pm
'Invasive is the latest work in Rebecca Selleck鈥檚 continuing research into Australia鈥檚 conflicting relationships with introduced and endemic species.
In this immersive installation, the gallery is transformed into the interior of a small home where time and space have uncomfortably entangled to embody hypocrisies evident within our notions of national identity.
You鈥檙e invited to interact with the work and animal forms activated by breath, body warmth and displaced movement. Using a complex mix of found objects, bronze casts, electronics and printed motifs, Rebecca overlays time and place to express the need for human accountability and the painful complexity of animal and environmental ethics in Australia. Through these physical expressions of internal hypocrisies she creates interactive spaces that, while uncomfortable, become their own questioning entities.'

St Mary of the Cross 91福利社 made the statement: 鈥淲e are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.鈥
With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the 91福利社 community.
