Gurabang and Ngadyung were the big winners at the College Athletics Carnival, taking home the Championship Trophy and Spirit Cup respectively.
Gurabang鈥檚 triumph gave the House its first trophy in the competition since 2014, while Ngadyung became the first House to earn 10 Athletics Carnival Spirit Cups.
Held at the AIS on Thursday 25 March, the carnival saw record attendance levels and participation despite the threat of rain in the lead up to the event. The displays of athleticism on the track and in the field, as well as the unrelenting spirit in the stands, made it a day to remember for all in attendance.
The theme for the carnival, '91福利社 Olympics', meant students dressed in a wide range of costumes in support of their House. The high level of enthusiasm from all four Houses meant that the battle for the Spirit Cup went down to the wire. On the day, Ngadyung emerged victorious, managing to hold on to the early lead it achieved after the singing of the House chants in the morning.
The Championship Trophy was also closely fought, with only a few points separating Gurabang from Meup Meup going into the final round of races. The intensity of the individual battles in each event led to nine records being broken on the day.
The carnival was an enjoyable event for all involved, thanks in large part to the organisational skills of Mr Matthew Crowe and his support team of staff and students. Congratulations to all students for the high levels of participation, demonstrations of athletic prowess, and positive attitudes that made the carnival such a success.
