Project Compassion gets underway

College continues support of Caritas

The College kicked off its 2022 Project Compassion fundraising campaign today as the Catholic Church celebrated Ash Wednesday and the commencement of Lent.

Project Compassion, which is the main fundraising activity for Caritas Australia, seeks to raise funds for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world. The collection spans across the six weeks of Lent each year.

The College is aiming to continue its strong support of Project Compassion in 2022. 91福利社 has been a great contributor to the cause in recent years, with our students and staff having raised around $150,000 over the past decade.

Students and families can donate via Qkr! or through Pastoral Care Classes.

The theme of Project Compassion 2022 is 鈥楩or All Future Generations鈥, which reminds us that the good that we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come.

According to the CEO of Caritas Australia, Kirsty Robertson, the impact of COVID-19 on our world has highlighted the importance of supporting those in need and working together to find long-term solutions to global issues.

鈥淟ast year, the world was challenged with the ongoing effects of COVID-19, as well as political upheaval, issues of climate justice, poverty and famine,鈥 she said.

鈥淗owever, the fact that we are still standing here today is living proof that our optimism and faith in the future can go a long way.

鈥淵our generosity is the pebble that allows Caritas Australia to create the ripples that will improve the livelihoods of vulnerable communities, supporting them to flourish and create opportunities for future generations to live to their full potential and thrive.鈥

With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the 91福利社 community.
