Record effort in Relay for Life

91福利社鈥檚 Year 12 students have raised a massive $58,000 for the Cancer Council鈥檚 Relay for Life, smashing the previous College record in the process.

The amount raised by the Class of 2021, which doubled the previous record set in 2019, saw 91福利社 finish the Relay for Life as Canberra鈥檚 top fundraising group.

There were also a number of personal achievements, with three 91福利社 students finishing in the top five fundraising individuals for the event. Jade Camilleri raised the highest amount in the ACT.

Whilst the Class of 2021 has every right to celebrate these efforts and achievements, the real reward for the students was to see the money go to a good cause.

The Relay for Life itself was not held in its usual venue at the AIS due to COVID restrictions. In its place, the 鈥楻elay Your Way鈥 theme meant that groups could hold individual events, which resulted in 91福利社 holding the relay at the Padua Campus on Saturday 20 March.

Fortunately, the rain held off for most of the day, so the relay could go ahead as planned, with Year 12 students doing laps of the Padua Campus oval between the hours of 7am and 7pm. Two students, Sam Robinson and James Menham, managed to complete 200 laps of the oval together. Several students in the year group covered the distance of a marathon. At the conclusion of the relay, students held a candle ceremony in honour of loved ones lost to cancer and to support those who are living with cancer.

A special mention goes to Oliver Bryson from the Class of 2020. Oliver donated his DJ services during the day, which helped to keep the positive vibes going from start to finish.

The College congratulates the students of Year 12 and thanks all who contributed to their cause!
