St 91������ prides itself in being a school that provides opportunity for all students to participate in sport. The purpose of this page is to give a brief overview of Sport at the College.

Key events on the sports calendar include the Swimming and Athletics Carnivals. This year, the Swimming Carnival will take place at Dickson Aquatic Centre on Thursday, 27 February, while the Athletics Carnival will be held at the Australian Institute of Sport on Tuesday, 25 March. These are compulsory school community days, designed to be both competitive and inclusive, featuring a range of novelty events that foster House Spirit. Houses compete for the Championship Trophy, awarded to the House with the highest points from competitive events, while the Spirit Cup is presented to the House that shows the greatest participation and House Spirit.

We compete in interschool competitions that generally take the format of a one-day gala style event. Students participate in the age groups of Years 7/8, Years 9/10 and College events, in numerous sports throughout the year. These include but are not limited to; Australian Rules Football, soccer, rugby league, rugby union, netball, basketball, hockey, touch football, Oz Tag, cricket, golf, tennis, softball and mountain biking. We are a member of the Associated Southern Colleges (ASC) and compete against the other Catholic and Independent Colleges in Canberra. We also participate in the ACT Secondary School Sport competitions that are open to all secondary schools in the Territory.

Staff at the College coach or manage the teams throughout the year and this generally requires trials and training which are held at the College after school. Students will be informed about sporting opportunities via student messages in their Pastoral Care Class and the schedule of sports throughout the year will be available on Canvas.

The College Newsletter includes articles written by staff and students as well as photographs of teams in action. This is an opportunity for students to be recognised for their contributions to the sporting life of the College.

We believe that students who attend St 91������ should compete in weekend sport in their local areas and teams enabling them to develop and strengthen relationships with adolescents of their own age in their community.

Those students who are turning 12 years old this year (born in 2013), will still compete in the ASC competitions in their age group with the school. Then, if qualified they will compete at the Under-12 ACT finals in the primary school system which may be on a different day to the High School Finals. This will occur in the following sports; athletics, swimming and cross country. Every effort is made to inform these students of the different dates of events; however, it is essential that these students check both Student Messages and the Canvas page for information so that they can compete.
